"Conflict is a Perceived Divergence of Interests."
Social  Conflict: Escalation, Stalemate, and Settlement (3rd Edition)  by Dean Pruitt , Jeffrey Rubin, Sung Hee Kim

In this course Perception is one's own Version or Reality - Nothing less. CNK

In this course Violence is any Obstacle towards Self Actualization - without any exception. CNK

There are two types of conflicts - TRACTABLE and INTRACTABLE - inspired by L. Kreisberg's work etc.
In this course Tractable is a conflict where the means (tracks) for managing it non-violently and constructively are present AND active. Intractable is a conflict where such means are non existent or inactive, and therefore conflict is managed violently and destructively. There is NO in-between state and the two states are subject to the threshold effect.

Communities fall into three categories, Civic, where "non violent dominative  engagements are the predominant means for resolving dominance disputes" and Malignant where "violent dominative engagements are the predominant means of resolving dominance disputes." Most communities fall into in-between stages we'll call here Transitio.  - inspired by Lonnie Athens' work.
